First Conference of Confederation

The Confederation of Senior Citizens Associations of Delhi is an only registered body representing more than 11 lakhs Senior Citizens all over Delhi duly associated with Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India, Social Welfare Department and Bhagidari Cell of Delhi Govt., ICCR and Senior Citizens Cell of Delhi Police.

For the first time, the Confederation organized a Conference of senior citizens of Delhi at NCUI Auditorium, New Delhi on 05th February 2011 in which more than 850 senior citizens participated representing more than 50 Senior Citizens Associations all over Delhi. Chief Guest was Smt. Sheila Dixit, Chief Minister of Delhi and Guests of Honour were Shri Mangat Ram Singhal, Social Welfare Minister of Delhi Govt. and Mr. K.R. Jingree, Mauritius High Commissioner.

Shri J.R. Gupta, Chairperson of the Confederation, congratulated Delhi Govt., for good governance, particularly, for the cause and care of senior citizens of Delhi by paying highest old-age monthly pension of Rs.1,000.00, by formulating its own State Policy for Senior Citizens of Delhi in the year of 2006 and also implementing the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act 2007 by installing 9 Tribunal Courts with effect from 01 October 2009 including so many other Welfare Schemes. Thus, Delhi Govt. has taken a lead over rest of the Country as far as cause and care of senior citizens of Delhi are concerned and deserves appreciation.

Shri J.R. Gupta presented a Charter of demands concerning senior citizens to Smt. Sheila Dixit, Chief Minister of Delhi through letter dated 05th February 2011 (copy enclosed). Chief Minister agreed to the first demand of the Confederation to issue identity cards to all senior citizens of Delhi without financial benefits through Social Welfare Department. For this purpose, Shri Mangat Ram Singhal, She further assured to consider other demands on priority basis. She also appreciated the efforts of the Confederation to mobilize so many Senior Citizens Associations in their fold which would certainly help Delhi Govt. to launch various schemes for the senior citizens with their advice rendered from time to time.
